Not only is this site under construction, so is Flordita!
The Complexo Turístico Flordita is situated on the banks of the Rio Kwanza where the river flows out into the Atlantic Ocean some 70 kms south of the capital, Luanda. It will consist of an a la Carte restaurant and grill, a swimming pool and a children’s adventure play park. Also under construction are a dozen en-suite air-conditioned cottages for overnight and weekend stays. I have even dug and stocked a pond for the keen fly fishermen among you.
The area is renowned for sport fishing, boat trips up the river Kwanza, bird watching, turtle watching during the season, and nearby is Kissama National Park and the International PGA standard Mangais Golf Course.
We hope to be able to start welcoming guests by mid 2015.
As an aside, I am often asked why ‘Flordita’ and not ‘Floridita’?
It was supposed to be Floridita. Ernest Hemingway is one of my favourite authors and I wanted to call my place Floridita after one of the authors drinking haunts in Havana. It takes ages to register a company here and somewhere towards the end of the bureaucratic process, a typographic error was made. When I pointed this out, I was informed I would have to start the process anew. I decided I liked the name Flordita.
